Ron Arad (b. 1951) is an Israeli-born British designer and architect known for experimental furniture and objects that combine fluid curves with industrial materials such as steel, aluminium, and plastic. Since gaining recognition with his Rover Chair in 1981, he has worked with brands including Vitra, Kartell, Moroso, and Rosenthal, where his collaboration began in 1994. His designs are collected for their instantly recognisable forms, technical ingenuity, and playful position between functional object and contemporary art.

Rosenthal, founded in 1879 in Selb, Bavaria, is one of Germany’s most important porcelain manufacturers, recognised for combining industrial production with high design standards. With its Studio-Linie programme from the 1960s onwards, Rosenthal invited international artists and designers to create avant-garde forms and décors, making pieces like this set both functional objects and design collectibles.
