Tall Schaubach Kunst vase in turquoise glazed porcelain with hand-painted gilt dragon decor. The elongated body, tapered neck, and luminous surface give the piece a refined Art Deco character with a lingering Jugendstil fantasy.

  • Dimensions: H 38 cm, Dia. 18 cm
  • Material: Glazed porcelain with gold decoration
  • Brand: Schaubach Kunst
  • Designer: Heinz Schaubach
  • Color: Turquoise-blue, gold
  • Era: Art Deco / Jugendstil transition, 1920s–1930s
  • Origin: Germany
  • Condition: Excellent vintage condition; gold rich and intact, no chips, cracks, or restorations. Minor rubbing to the rim and light surface wear consistent with age.
  • Remarks: Marked Schaubach Kunst and Echt Gold (German for "real gold")

This vase has a strong decorative presence, but its height and narrow profile keep it elegant. The turquoise glaze brings brightness, while the gilt dragon adds movement and warmth. It sits especially well on a dark wood pedestal, a marble console, or within a layered Art Deco interior where polished brass, lacquer, and velvet already shape the mood.

Heinz Schaubach (1886–1970) was a German modeller, art director, and porcelain manufacturer. Trained at the Wiesbaden School of Applied Arts, he led the art department at Wallendorf before acquiring the factory assets in 1926 and building Schaubach Kunst into a recognized name in Thuringian porcelain. His work and direction sit between late Jugendstil refinement and the clearer decorative language of the interwar years.

Schaubach Kunst was founded in 1926, when Heinz Schaubach took over the Wallendorf factory after the bankruptcy of Fraureuth AG. Under his direction, the manufactory developed into a notable center for artistically ambitious porcelain, especially known for figural works and refined decorative production. In 1953, the factory was expropriated and continued as VEB Schaubachkunst Wallendorfer Porzellan.
