A striking pair of glass vases designed by Cari Zalloni for WMF in Germany during the 1970s. Both pieces feature softly flaring forms with a clean, futuristic line, finished in warm amber and honey tones that shift into a vivid chartreuse glow under UV light. The duo captures the optimistic, light-driven character of Space Age design while remaining elegant in silhouette.

This duo brings a subtle sense of futurism into an interior without feeling heavy-handed. In daylight, the glass reads warm and mellow; under UV light, it becomes unexpectedly vivid and atmospheric. They work especially well in interiors with chrome, lacquer, smoked glass, or darker shelving, where their color and translucency can add a more playful, slightly otherworldly note.

Cari Zalloni (20 August 1937 – 3 July 2012) was an Austrian designer, born in Athens and trained at the Academy of Applied Arts in Vienna, who began his career in the early 1960s and then worked as a freelance designer in Germany for Steuler-Keramik and the Maximiliansau glassworks / WMF group. He later co-founded CAZAL eyewear (1975), while design collectors also prize his 1960s–70s West German ceramics—notably Steuler vases and candleholders credited to him for their bold, geometric surface effects.

WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik), founded in 1853 in Geislingen an der Steige, grew from a regional metalware factory into one of Germany’s major producers of household and hospitality goods. Known for innovations such as Cromargan stainless steel and collaborations with designers like Wilhelm Wagenfeld, the company built a reputation for durable, design-led everyday objects. Today WMF, part of the French Groupe SEB, continues to offer cookware, cutlery, glass and professional coffee machines that combine industrial quality with a strong design identity.
