White porcelain vase duo designed by Bjørn Wiinblad for Rosenthal Studio-Line, combining smooth glossy glaze with matte bisque relief in a floral band that wraps around each form. The pair reflects Wiinblad’s distinctive mix of decorative imagination and disciplined design, bringing together Danish poetic ornament and Rosenthal’s refined German porcelain production.

  • Dimensions:
    • Vase 1: H 22 cm, Dia. 15,5 cm
    • Vase 2: H 17,5 cm, Dia. 10.5 cm
  • Material: Porcelain
  • Brand: Rosenthal
  • Designer: Bjørn Wiinblad
  • Color: White
  • Condition: Excellent vintage condition, minor traces of age, no chips, cracks, or repairs
  • Era: 1960s
  • Origin: Germany
  • Remarks: set of two, the taller vase model Nr. 2944

Display the pair on a console, shelf, or sideboard where the relief can catch the light. They work best with just a few simple stems, but look just as good left empty as a clean white accent in a calm, layered interior.

Bjørn Wiinblad (1918–2006), the flamboyant Danish illustrator, set designer and ceramicist, is internationally known for his richly patterned worlds of opera-like figures and ornamental fantasy. Working across media from posters to theatre stages and porcelain, he rejected strict Scandinavian minimalism in favour of lush, narrative decoration. His collaborations with Rosenthal allowed his graphic, romantic style to reach a global audience, translating his drawings into high-quality porcelain reliefs and décors.

Rosenthal, founded in 1879 in Selb, Bavaria, is one of Germany’s most important porcelain manufacturers, recognised for combining industrial production with high design standards. With its Studio-Linie programme from the 1960s onwards, Rosenthal invited international artists and designers to create avant-garde forms and décors, making pieces like this set both functional objects and design collectibles.
