A set like this brings a room to life very quietly. The varied heights and soft gradient glass create a natural rhythm on a console, sideboard, or pedestal, adding color and lightness in a way that feels collected rather than styled.
Erich Jachmann, originally trained as a glass engraver and designer, studied under Bruno Mauder and was introduced by Wilhelm Wagenfeld to the Vereinigte Lausitzer Glaswerke. In the 1960s he became head of the glass atelier at WMF, where he helped steer the company’s move from purely metalware into modernist glass design. His work is defined by restrained elegance, precise control of form and a sensuous handling of material that favours clear geometry over decorative excess.
WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik), founded in 1853 in Geislingen an der Steige, grew from a regional metalware factory into one of Germany’s major producers of household and hospitality goods. Known for innovations such as Cromargan stainless steel and collaborations with designers like Wilhelm Wagenfeld, the company built a reputation for durable, design-led everyday objects. Today WMF, part of the French Groupe SEB, continues to offer cookware, cutlery, glass and professional coffee machines that combine industrial quality with a strong design identity.
