Tall German studio vase with a poised, totem-like silhouette in deep brown stoneware and a contrasting cream collar. The stacked proportions and quiet glaze transitions give it a calm, sculptural presence that sits beautifully in pared-back, art-aware interiors.

Perfect as a sculptural accent on a console, sideboard or pedestal in modern, brutalist, Japandi or gallery-style interiors – strong enough to stand alone, or paired with a single branch or grass for a restrained, curated look.

Friedhelm Tschentscher (born 1930) studied under Walter Popp at the Werkkunstschule Kassel and belongs to the influential Kassel circle that renewed German design after 1945. His early ceramics, now scarce, already explore the themes that later defined his concrete art and reliefs: clear geometry, rhythm and a precise handling of surface and volume. Pieces from this period are increasingly appreciated as a bridge between post-war studio pottery and post-constructivist sculpture.
